schol is being built by Rockstar Automations Ltd for people moving to the US to study or work. Some of the services on this site aren't open yet: when you join a waitlist, you're telling us you'd like it, and we'll let you know when it opens. This page explains what we keep and why.
What we collect
- What you put in a waitlist form. Your email, and if you give them, your WhatsApp or phone number, the country you're moving from, when you're moving, whether it's for study or work, and which service you joined the waitlist for.
- If you text schol. Your phone number, your messages, and the details you share to plan your move, such as your name, school, arrival date and SEVIS ID. An AI assistant reads and answers your messages, and the people who run schol can read them to do the steps it can't.
- Website visits. Pages viewed, which buttons you tapped, and the ad or link that brought you here. We use an anonymous visitor id for this, not your name or email.
- Ad measurement. If you arrive from a Meta (Facebook or Instagram) ad, Meta's pixel records the visit and your sign-up so we can tell which ads work. When you join a waitlist, our server also tells Meta that a sign-up happened, with your email, phone number and country scrambled (hashed) so Meta can match it to the ad but can't read them, plus the ad identifiers Meta's pixel set, your browser type and IP address. We never sell your information.
How we use it
- If you text us, to answer you and run the steps of your move you ask for. We never pay anything or submit a form for you without your explicit yes.
- To tell you when the service you joined opens, and to ask you a few questions about your move if you're happy to answer them.
- To learn which services people want most, so we build those first.
- To measure which ads and pages work.
We won't send you marketing from anyone else, and we won't add you to anything you didn't sign up for.
Who we share it with
Only the services that run this site, and only what each one needs:
- Hosting (Vercel, Railway) and our database (Convex), which store and serve what's above.
- If you text us: our messaging provider (Photon, for iMessage) and our AI provider (Anthropic), under terms that don't allow training on your messages.
- Meta, for ad measurement, as described above: that you signed up, with hashed contact details and ad identifiers.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
Your choices
- Email delbert@gatherat.ai to see what we hold about you, or to be removed from a waitlist and have your details deleted.
- Every email we send you has a way to stop more. If you text us, tell us to stop and we won't message you first again.
- You can turn off ad personalisation in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings, or use your browser's privacy settings to block the pixel.
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to delete it, or until the service you joined opens or we decide not to build it, after which we delete waitlist details we no longer need.
Where it's stored
Our providers store data in the United States. If you're signing up from another country, your details are transferred there.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and stored with providers that encrypt it at rest. Access is limited to the people who run schol.
Children
schol is for people 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update this page and the date above.
